MACC hosts May Workshops and Conferences

The MACC hosted the 24th Annual MACC Meeting and Workshop from May 15-17 at the Hamilton Convention Centre in downtown Hamilton, with the theme "Optimization in Process Operations and Design." The workshop featured a keynote lecture by Prof. Larry Biegler from Carnegie Mellon University entitled "Nonlinear Model Predictive Control: An Evolution to Dynamic RTO", as well as topical lectures by Professors Swartz, Mhaskar, Adams, MacGregor, Yu, and Mahalec. Presentations by industrial members were also given, including Laura Ronholm (ArcelorMittal Dofasco), Jeff Kelly (Honeywell), Kiran Sheth (ExxonMobil), and Arvind Raghunathan (Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories). The MACC then hosted the annual Statistics and Control Meeting from May 23-24 at McMaster University, featuring presentations from graduate student researchers in the process systems engineering field at universities in Quebec and Ontario. Participants included Queens University, École Polytechnique de Montréal, University of Laval, University of Waterloo, and McMaster University. [Download full conference program]
