Research Title
Control of a vapour compression cycle

Research Objectives
Most large scale buildings use a vapor compression cycle (VCC) to provide temperature and humidity control for the different levels of the building. Temperature control structures are used to ensure that the energy load of the structure is minimized and to ensure that the temperature in different regions of the building has adequate control in the presence of varying conditions to adjacent zones as well as to the exterior air (ie. reasonably fast response to changes in temperature set points, minimum oscillation in VCC inputs). The main research goal of this project is to determine the most effective control structure for a single VCC, then expanding this goal to consider interaction between different zones in the building as well as comparing energy efficiency vs. cost of control structure.
